Riyadh: The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has stepped up its international efforts to reopen global dialogue on the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence worldwide, extending its Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence adopted alongside 194 member states in 2021.

These international efforts aim to address the unfair impacts of advanced technologies on human societies, particularly regarding human protection, while promoting safer, more equitable, and inclusive deployment of AI.

Reflecting UNESCO’s strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia, the Saudi capital, Riyadh, is set to host the 4th edition of the UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, which will be held from September 14 to 17, 2026. The event is a joint collaboration between UNESCO, the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA), and the International Center for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE). Saudi Arabia is the first Arab nation to host this global forum, which is expected to convene representatives from 95 countries.

As one of the premier international platforms dedicated to AI ethics, this edition is slated to advance global dialogue on responsible AI governance, facilitate the exchange of expertise and best practices, and explore ways to harness AI technologies to drive sustainable development and societal prosperity.

Over the four-day event, the forum will focus on key themes including AI ethics and governance, capacity building, responsible innovation, and international policies. It will also showcase the latest global initiatives and experiences through high-level sessions and specialized workshops featuring leading experts and policymakers from around the globe.

Those interested in attending the forum can register via the following link: https://registration-gfeai.icaire.org/en/join
