Kasargod: Students of Sree Narayana Guru Open University have raised widespread complaints over serious lapses in the distribution of study materials and the conduct of examinations. They say they are currently facing multiple difficulties, including frequent glitches in the university's web portal, confusion over the publication of results and the failure to conduct examinations on schedule.

Persistent technical problems with the university's official web portal have reportedly prevented students from submitting assignments and completing examination registration on time. Students say discrepancies in the publication of results have added to their difficulties, with some who initially passed with good marks later being shown as having failed on the website.

With fourth-semester examinations currently under way, some students say that their first-semester grade reports, which showed good marks when checked two months ago, now display zero marks and a 'failed' status. They say the issue has caused them severe mental distress and is not an isolated incident, with several students reportedly facing similar problems.

Another major concern is the delay in the distribution of study materials. According to students, materials often fail to reach them even long after the semester has begun, and in some cases are distributed only after examination dates have been announced.

Students also complain that examination schedules are often announced without adequate prior notice or sufficient preparation time. Delays in the publication of results after examinations, they say, are adversely affecting their prospects for further studies. They question how they are expected to continue their education without even receiving study materials on time.

Portal glitches have further compounded the problem, with students reportedly having to spend hours trying to submit assignments.

Students have demanded urgent intervention from the university authorities, including the timely distribution of study materials, greater transparency in the examination and evaluation processes, and a permanent solution to the technical problems affecting the website. They say such lapses on the part of the university are putting their academic future at risk.
