Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Thursday, with discussions focusing on regional developments and efforts to strengthen stability.

According to Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Jarrah expressed hope that the memorandum of understanding reached between the United States and Iran would help improve regional security and support freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

He said the agreement could contribute to addressing unresolved issues through sustainable and peaceful solutions.

During the call, the Kuwaiti minister stressed the importance of conducting relations between states in accordance with international law and the principles set out in the United Nations Charter.

He also highlighted the need to uphold good neighbourly relations, respect national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and avoid interference in the internal affairs of other countries.

Sheikh Jarrah called for disputes to be resolved through dialogue and peaceful means rather than the use or threat of force.

The minister also emphasised the importance of ending support for proxy groups, saying such measures would contribute to greater security and stability across the region while serving the interests of its countries and peoples.
